Apples on the ground, after the harvest

Today I headed out to photograph a snow covered mountain about 40 minutes from here...

But never got past the orchard down the road.

The apples had been picked, and the trees were bare.

Geese and ducks congregated at the farm pond in back...

and fallen leaves lay everywhere, on the earth, and in the water.

Canada Geese rest at a pond near this apple orchard in Oliver, BC.
Willow leaves gather on the surface of a pond, awaiting the call of their brothers below.

I was reminded to slow a bit, and heed the time of year.

Further down the road, I found further evidence that there's no need to rush...

The "Grand Hotel" of Kaleden was started in 1912 on Lake Skaha—apparently to be a resort destination for the steam-wheelers of the day.

But, by 2007, they seem to have only managed to pour the concrete.

Knowing the Okanagan Valley, though, it could just be the contractors.

The "Grand Hotel" in Kaleden, BC, was never completed.
Apples under the trees of this orchard fertilize next year's crop.

It's nice to live in a rural setting, where it's easy to see that every apple need not be eaten...

And every leaf need not be raked.

Thanks to everyone who ordered a calendar last week!

I've sold 76 so far—well on the way to 100, by December First.

Have a great week!
Todd
