A heap of melting snow on a wet sidewalk

This week, I found myself on the shores of Okanagan Lake, in Kelowna.

The only thing left of our "blizzard" last weekend was a wet sidewalk and a few piles of snow.

The winter sun broke through the overcast sky for a few short moments, before dropping behind the mountains, around 3:30 P.M.

This time of year I have learned to head out right after lunch if I want to catch the sunset!

The sun is setting nearly in the south these days, as you can see, by the sheen on the compass of brick.

While I was wandering near this marina, an older gentleman approached me and gave me his perspective on the place.

He said, he used to go duck hunting here, where this marina now stands.

There was a sawmill nearby, and things were much quieter—when Kelowna was not the bustling city that it is today, but a mere town of 5,000 people.

Still, there remains a certain quietness here. I'm not sure if it comes from the winter season, or the soothing influence of the lake.

In any case, I saw a few ducks... and I thought they were lucky not to be in this spot a few decades ago.

Thank you to everyone who ordered a calendar over the last few weeks!

It sold-out, at 150 copies, and the job is now in the hands of the printer.

Have a great week!
