Apricots trees are in full bloom in the Okanagan Valley, BC.

Around here, the first trees to bloom are the apricots.

This is orchard country. And this week everywhere you look another stand of apricots is bursting with flowers.

I find myself inspired to get out early and wander through the orchards.

The low, clear light on the freshly opened blooms is as soothing to me as the cool morning air.

The early morning sun lights this apricot branch in bloom.
A row of apricot trees with a spray of blossoms.

It's almost hard to see how a massive tree can produce such fragile flowers.

The flowers and the trunk are so opposite in their natures, yet each depends upon the other.

Irrigation has begun, and frosty mornings make a glaze of orchard rows.

The bees are out, and this one somehow doesn't mind my lens just inches from its eye.

Sprinklers cover this orchard with ice in the early morning chill.
A bee lands on an apricot blossom.

Maybe it sees me as a fellow traveler gathering a nectar of my own.

In any case, I'm happy to have met another who appreciates the fresh, new blossoms.

Have a great week!
Todd
