Spring Colors

This time of year there's no need to venture far to find a world of brilliant color.

Three doors down I found a garden with all the colors you see here.

The tulip, above, has faded from its pristine, youthful state and its crumpled petals have the charm of watercolor when it's dry.

These chives, just opening, reflect the brilliance of a gardener who put them in a bed of yellow.

Pink begonias show their faces timidly and hang on every compliment.

Red tulips, not yet ready to retire, curl their petals and express an art form they alone can know.

An orange tulip, forewarning others, drops its petals slowly, one by one.

Meanwhile, lilacs draw attention from all sides with their subtle color and perfume.

I love how hours pass without my noticing when I'm photographing in a garden full of color.
