Garden hopping is what I seem to do these days. Almost every photo here is from a different place.
These daisies welcomed me one morning when I stepped into a yard so full of flowers there was hardly any lawn. |
Another day, about to leave, I spied these raindrops on an iris petal just outside my door.
Another time I fought the wind and sun to capture California poppies.

These bleeding hearts were in a yard about to be abandoned.
A moving truck was due within a week, the owners told me.
|
Wild lupine called me when I passed them on the highway. It took me several days before I found the time to stop.
Finally, a field of irises at dawn—I didn't want this moment of discovery to pass.
Peering through a wire fence, I stole a shot of this amazing, secret garden. |

What a pleasure to behold their subtle beauty and the endless ways these flowers show it off.
