Family Vacation

During the past couple of weeks I have practically lived in my bathing suit, playing with all sides of my extended family.

A week with my dad and my sisters and half a week with my mom and my step-brothers went by way too fast.

We tubed, water skied, jumped off cliffs, swam, sailed, paddle boated, hiked in the rain, and did just about anything to keep from getting completely dry.

And whenever I started to get too relaxed and easy my niece, Caroline, did her scary monster impersonation and got the adrenaline flowing in my veins again.

Playing in the water and hanging out with everyone was just what the doctor ordered for all of us.

Now I'm trying to find a doctor who will prescribe it for me on an ongoing basis!

In the evenings we hung out on the deck or in the hammock and watched the sun go down across the lake.

It made me wonder how I ever got distracted by the busy side of life.

But then I love them both: the quiet and the bustle, accomplishment and rest.

Each feeds upon the other, and I simply strive to keep a balance.
