Ironman

The human mind is a strange beast.

Take a simple concept: "It's good to exercise."

Give it to the human mind, and someone is bound to come up with an ironman competition (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run).

It might take a few thousand years, but someone will think of it.

What's more, 2,200 athletes are likely to take the idea seriously, like they did last Sunday for the Subaru Ironman Canada in Penticton, BC.

And yes, there'll be someone there to photograph them doing it... and thousands more to cheer them on.

When the human mind comes up with something, no matter how crazy it may be, it doesn't rest until it's done...

And somehow this inspires all of us. Don't ask me why.

The scenery is beautiful.

If I made myself to ride that far, I'd also choose a spot like this to do it.

And they say the people volunteering are very friendly here, and also very organized.

I just don't understand the purpose of undertaking such a feat—I mean, they run a marathon after all that swimming and biking!

But I guess we all do the same thing somewhere in our lives. My ironman is my photography business.

We're all slaves to that human drive in one form or another. And It's fun to cheer each other on.
