rocky protrubences on the Pacific Coast of the Olympic Peninsula

Trees seem somehow taller in the fog.

With no tops in site, the mind imagines them to reach almost to the stars.

And beaches are captivating when they're littered with the rocky remnants of an ancient shore.

Straight lines and open space are punctuated by decaying, rocky forms.

a craggy coastal island slowly dwindles
rounded pebbles on the beach in the rain

The solid bedrock of a continent can now be found as rounded stones beneath my feet...

...the rain bringing their polished surfaces to life.

On the isolated Olympic Peninsula, I imagine that life continues much as it always has.

a stream joins the ocean among the rocks
driftwood collects on a beach on the Olympic Peninsula

Trees stretch themselves to an unknown height above the fog and then fall to earth, to be whittled by the waves.

Overhead, the age old call of geese is heard.
