The rock formations of the Oregon coast are especially dramatic along the southern section of the shore.
Hardly a mile of beach can be found without coastal islands, or at least a sprinkling of boulders on the sand. |
These rocks give us solid reference points while our eyes explore the space around them.
They remain steadfast while the water ebbs and flows. |
 |
 |
And they define the shapes we see cut-out from the brilliant sky.
Could space be seen at all without some solid points of reference? |
Though space itself is invisible, the relationship of objects in that space can help us see it.
Objects like these rocks create a sense of depth which draws us in and captivates us. |
 |
 |
What fascinates us about this world is not so much the objects but their relationships.
For it is through these relationships that we catch a glimmer of that which our senses cannot see. |
