Yesterday I was wearing sandals. The bright wisteria had confirmed that it was spring.
That's why I couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I woke up to half a foot of snow.
"Arizona's supposed to be a desert," I thought. People come here to get away from winter.
|
But snow is completely normal in Sedona, Arizona, where I now live. It's 4500 feet above sea level.
In fact, the red rocks of Sedona take quite kindly to the snow. |

 |
They seem to appreciate the way that nature decorates their peaks, causing everyone to drop whatever they are doing and look at them with awe.
In fact, nothing shows off these red rocks quite like the snow. |
But the snow does nothing
more than tease us here. As quickly as it came this morning, it was gone.
And while the low clouds were lingering, the desert trees and shrubs made busy work of taking up the melting snow.

Now the desert will be green again, until the dry months come.
So if you visit Sedona in April, be sure to pack a sweater. You won't need your swimsuit or your sandals when it snows in Arizona. |

Have a great day,
