I found these roses early one summer morning laden with water, probably from a sprinkler someone ran that night.  The weight of three roses proved to be no match for the youthful stems that brought them into being.  A humble beauty bows its head.  But the fragrance of these old fashioned roses brought my head right down to them.  The vigor and freshness of the petals especially caught my eye, as did their perfect form together as a flower. 

This rose photo greeting card was first selected by Seattle artist, June Cookson.  I'm a fan of her work, and a friend now.  I know that she is drawn to images that have a somewhat vintage quality.  While I can attest to the fact that this is a very modern rose, the black and white brings a timeless quality to the image.  In which century did these roses grow?  The B&W also draws my attention to the curving shapes of the petals and water droplets.
