California Dreaming…

by Todd Smith on January 25, 2009

I found myself in sunny, Southern California last week (still am actually, until Wednesday).

Compared to all the snow at home, walking barefoot on the beach has been a wonderful break in the routine.

You can read about my California dreaming in this week’s newsletter.

Have you had a break this winter (if you live in colder weather)? Or it is summer where you are?

Ha! I only wish I could get away this winter. It has been in the minus 20′s and minus 30′s for weeks. On Saturday morning it was minus 41 below zero here — no kidding. Today (now at minus 30) it is supposed to climb the mercury to a balmy minus 17 — I sure hope so :)
Anyway, that ought to have you really appreciating that fantastic place you’re visiting. You have some truly fantastic images to share in this post. Great work on all of them. Enjoy!

Diane – I feel for you. I’m back home now in the thick of the snow. It was fun to dream for a while. :)

Pie – I love Canada in the winter too. There’s nothing like being holed away in a snowy place when you want to get some indoor work or meditation done.

Todd,

Beautiful!

I took some seagull pictures this morning but they didn’t some out anything like yours. (Seagulls in a Delaware parking lot just don’t have the same romance, hehe.)

The surf photos are amazing. I feel like I’m right there. A vacation in pixels.

Regards,

Kelly

Thanks, Kelly. Now we’ve got a challenge… Next time I’m in Delaware I’ll see if I can do a newsletter on the parking lots there! :)

It seems like a dream to me now… Was I really in 80 degree weather so recently?!

Actually , I’m on my winter break right now. But I’m still in Canada.

But it feels like summer. It’s only a few degrees below zero in BC right now (Compared to the minus 20′s and 30′s back in Ontario).

I’m just not much of a sunny beach person. This is where I’d rather be….skiing.

You have some good stuff here. I might take the camera out later this week and see if I can find anything interesting.

Hey Friar! How are you? I didn’t know you were in BC! I’m in Oroville, WA, and I spend a lot of time in the Okanagan. I’ve got friends in Oliver and I get up to Penticton and Kelowna regularly. My favorite ski hill is Mt. Baldy (mile and a half of vertical and no lines EVER!). Unfortunately, it hasn’t had enough snow this year.

Just between you and me… I like beaches when they’re not hot (morning, evening or winter).

Oh, I love these. You really captured a few of the best of Southern CA. Because I live there, I always love looking at someone else’s photos to see what they saw.

BTW, if you’d like to see a few more sea gull photos, please feel free to stop by my website tomorrow. I’ll be putting up a series of them………………:)

Lisa – Thank you… I’m glad I could do justice to your beautiful home turf. I’d love to spend more time there exploring. I’ll check out your seagull photos tomorrow.
